1969  The 1st Korea Electronics Show

In line with the enactment of the Electronic Industry Promotion Las, 'Korea Precision Machinery & Equipment Center(the peredecessor of the KEA)held the first Korea Electronics Show on January 28, 1969. [The KES was designed to help the government to set up the basic plan of the eight year electronics industry promotion and to achieve $100 million export/target for 1971]

For eight days at the National Pubilcity Hall near the Duksoo Palace, the KES displayed black and white TVs, radios, speakers, condensers, etc. Also substantial achievements were successfully took place at the KES including the 63 cases of technological negotiation and the 25 cases of business discussion.


1976  Yoido Era and Establishment of KEA

In 1972, Korea Electronics Show featured business transaction talks involving US $10million and displays color TVs for the first time. In 1973, coupled with the computer show, the KES transformed its shape as a state-of-art exhibition. In 1976, KES was held at the Yoido Exhibition Center .


In the same year, KEA estabilshed and participated the show for the first time.
About 138,000 visitors came to the 7th KES in 1976, and the Business talks surpassed US$100Million. Also throgh the show, participants achieved US$200 million in 1977 and US$300million in 1978.


1979  COEX Era and KES

In March 1979, KEA was handed over the electronics industry-related affairs from the previous exhibition organizer, the Korea Precision Machinery & Equipment Center(KPMEC), and Naturally, KEA became the new organizer of the KES. Following the changes, KEA winded up the Yoido era and opened the new era at the Convention & Exhibition Center(COEX) in Seoul.


1995  Launch of the Local Electronics Shows

In 1995, KEA held the first local electronics show in Busan independently from the KES.
The local shows were established in order to build a foundation for the development of the electronic industries in non-central areas.
The successful local show gave a strong impression of the Korean world-class electronics industry to not the local communities but also to the 80,000 visitors.


2000  New Millennium and 2000 Korea electronics show

The rapid development of the information communication technology based on the digital technology evolution in 21st century required the new paradigm to the IT industry by accelerating the fusion of technology.


2000 KES pressented various products under the theme, "It's a Digital World." The digital multimedia products which created the new style and culture, the ultramodern information communication products which leads the internet generations, and many other newest technical products were presented at the show.
More than 170,000 visitors including 5,000 buyers visited and participated to the 2000 KES, and KES became the most important event and ambassador for the Korean electronics industry.


2005  The 2005 Korea Electronics Show

The 36th 2005 Korea Electronics Show was Held under the motto.
'Advance to the future' with about 550 companies from the 18 different countries.
The show served to promote Korea's electronics Industry to the world market and the foreign buyers, to vitalize domestic markets, and to expedite the exchange of information on technology and global market trends.

The 2005 KES was scheduled and coordinated with the other Northeast Asia's major electronics shows(Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc)to make the foreign buyers easier to visit the exhibition.

The exhibition attracted about 210,000 visitors, including 6,000 foreign buyers. Edward Prescott, a Nobel Prize Winner in Economics and professor at the University of Arizona, was invited as a Keynote speaker, elevating the show to a higher level.


2009  40th Anniversary of the Korea Electronics Show

The 40th Korea Electronics Show 2009 was held at KINTEX in Ilsan under the slogan, "You'll be the first witness to meet the future!" It started with the opening ceremony titled 'Wearable IT Fashion Show' where models wore a wide range of wearable IT products.
The show displayed information appliances, information & communication, integration, semiconductors, and display panels as well as collision avoidance system, 3D display, green internet cafe, 3D endoscopy, digital broadcasting equipment, and many other products that caught the attention of the visitors and buyers alike.

There were much to see in the show, and people could get a glimpse of the future trend of the market. Despite slow economy, many multinational companies like Nissan Motor, Murata, Epson, 3M, HP, and a number of high-tech companies in the areas of 3D, environment, game, and broadcasting system as well as Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics have participated in the show, showing their interest in R&D and investment for the future. Furthermore, more than 3,000 buyers from 23 countries including India, South America, Russia, and China have visited the show, and they were provided with a variety of business programs.
