The Korea Electronics Association (KEA) values user privacy and strives to comply with the "Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc." and the "Personal Information Protection Act." This policy explains how KEA collects, uses, and protects the personal information provided by users.
As per the Personal Information Protection Act, users have the right to refuse consent for the collection of personal information. However, refusal may result in the inability to proceed with the exhibition participation application.
* This policy applies to all exhibitions organized by KEA and is effective from February 5, 2025.
We process personal information for the following purposes. If the purpose of use changes, we will take necessary measures, such as obtaining separate consent, in accordance with Article 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act.
1. Purpose of Personal Information Collection and Use
- Membership registration, consultation, and service applications for exhibition participation.
- Member management, service improvement, and new service development.
- Marketing and advertising.- Analysis and services based on demographic characteristics.
- Handling inquiries or complaints and delivering announcements.
2. Collected Personal Information and Collection Methods
(1) Collection of Personal Information
KEA collects the minimum necessary personal information required for exhibition participation and related services.

KEA may use the personal information collected from members to provide convenient and diverse services. KEA may conduct advertising or marketing activities using various notification services, including postal mail, email, SMS, and KakaoTalk notifications. If members do not wish to receive such notifications, they may opt out through the designated rejection methods provided.
During the exhibition, on-site photos and videos will be taken, which may be used for promotional and marketing purposes. Users may request KEA to withdraw their consent for marketing use at any time, either before or after the event.
(2) Methods of Collecting Personal Information
When collecting personal information, we inform users in advance and obtain their consent. Personal information is collected through the following methods:
• When users agree to the collection of personal information and directly enter their information during the membership registration process for exhibition participation.
• When on-site sketch photos and videos are taken during the exhibition.
• When personal information is provided by affiliated services or organizations.
• When participating in online/offline events or activities.
(3) Consent to the Collection of Personal Information
When collecting personal information, we inform users in advance and obtain their consent. Personal information is collected through the following method:
KEA retains personal information only for the necessary period to achieve the stated purposes. After the required retention period, the information is securely disposed of.
If the retention period of personal information agreed upon by the data subject has expired or the processing purpose has been achieved, but retention is required by applicable laws and regulations, KEA will store the member’s information for a certain period as stipulated by relevant laws. In such cases, KEA will transfer the personal information to a separate database (DB) or store it in a different location.

4. Procedures and Methods for Disposal of Personal Information
KEA promptly disposes of personal information when the retention period expires or the processing purpose is achieved, making the information unnecessary. If the handling of personal information has been entrusted to a third party, KEA instructs the entrusted party to dispose of the data as well. The procedures and methods for disposal are as follows
(1) Disposal Procedures
KEA selects personal information subject to disposal and, upon approval from the company’s Personal Information Protection Officer, proceeds with its disposal.
(2) Disposal Methods
Personal information stored in electronic file format is permanently deleted using technical methods that prevent recovery.
Personal information recorded and stored in paper documents is shredded or incinerated.

5. Entrustment of Personal Information Handling
To provide seamless services, KEA entrusts certain necessary tasks to external companies. KEA ensures that the entrusted companies (subcontractors) comply with relevant laws and regulations, managing and supervising them to prevent violations.
In accordance with relevant laws, KEA includes provisions in entrustment contracts to ensure the secure management of personal information. These provisions cover compliance with personal information protection laws, confidentiality obligations, prohibition of providing information to third parties, liability in case of incidents, the duration of the entrustment, and obligations regarding the return or disposal of personal information upon completion of the entrusted tasks. KEA ensures that these provisions are strictly followed.

6. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties
KEA uses personal information only within the scope specified in the "Collected Personal Information and Purpose of Use" section and does not use or provide personal information to third parties beyond this scope without prior user consent. However, KEA may provide personal information to third parties only in cases where it falls under Articles 17 and 18 of the Personal Information Protection Act, such as with the user’s consent or under special provisions of the law.

7. Rights and Obligations of the Data Subject and How to Exercise Them
Data subjects may exercise the following rights related to personal information protection with KEA at any time. However, refusal to consent to data collection may result in restrictions on event participation.

• Request to suspend processing
※ If there are legal or legitimate reasons, requests may be restricted or denied.
Requests under Article 1 may be submitted to KEA in writing, by phone, or via email, and KEA will take prompt action accordingly.
If a data subject requests the correction or deletion of their personal information due to errors, KEA will not use or provide the relevant personal information until the correction or deletion is completed.
The rights under Article 1 may also be exercised by the data subject’s legal representative or an authorized agent. In such cases, a power of attorney in the format specified in Annex 11 of the Enforcement Rules of the Personal Information Protection Act must be submitted. Data subjects must not violate personal information protection laws or related regulations by infringing on the privacy of themselves or others when KEA processes personal information.
8. Implementation of Safety Measures for Collected Personal Information
(1) Measures to Ensure the Security of Personal Information>
KEA takes the following measures to ensure the security of personal information
• Administrative Measures: Establishment and implementation of internal management plans, regular employee training, etc.
• Technical Measures: Management of access rights to personal information processing systems, installation of access control systems, encryption of unique identification information, installation of security programs.
• Physical Measures: Access control for data centers and document storage rooms.
(2) Policy on Prohibiting Unauthorized Email Collection
KEA prohibits the unauthorized collection of posted email addresses using email collection programs or other technical methods. Violation of this policy may result in penalties under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc.
(3) Transmission of Commercial Information
KEA does not send commercial advertisements for profit-making purposes without prior consent from users, except for promotional purposes related to the exhibition.
